2001 Phoenix Deluxe Two Point Mandolin
(Serial No. 262) Near mint condition, medium red brown finish. Rolfe Gerhart has been building mandolins since 1971. He's figured out how to get the sound out of them. The Deluxe is a medium-string mandolin that excels at all kinds of music but is styled with the clean, elegant appearance of the Phoenix Neoclassical. Includes a built-in K&K pickup. Has a light sunburst with a warm, violin dark-brown under the hybrid varnish, striped Macassar ebony headstock overlay, fingerboard, tailpiece overlay, and finger rest, gold Grover tuners with custom black parts and buttons, and the fingerboard features the abalone vine created for the Unicorn Master Models of the 1970s and included on the "Pickin'" fingerboard poster. Original "Lost Timber" maple bridge base with an ebony saddle. Also fitted with a gold James tailpiece. Just set up by luthier Jerry Ray and the action is right on the frets with no buzzing to allow clean speedy picking. Excellent sounding mandolin with strong volume, incredible responsiveness, and a sweet rich tone that will get loud and chop when needed. Comes with the original hardshell case.
